After mysterious circumstances had shrunken both Giyu and Tanjiro, Shinobu Kocho was tasked with taking care of them.
The Butterfly Hashira doesn’t want to waste any opportunity for training and asks Tomioka to demonstrate to Tanjiro on how to maintain total concentration breathing in the “toughest and harshest conditions”. However, he didn’t know how he could demonstrate it when they were simply too small to go anywhere.
Shinobu had it all planned out, of course. She grabs the tiny Giyu on top of the side of her enormous, musky tabi covered feet. Tomioka never thought that her feet would smell this bad at this size and being so close to it.
She tells Tomioka to breath and to maintain total concentration while licking her feet. Seeing no other choice, he does what she asked for. Once Shinobu was satisfied with that Tomioka the “demonstration”, she tells Tanjiro to follow along as well.
While reluctant, he goes to the bottom of her foot, and starts doing the same thing; the two of them appalled by how intense the odor and salty taste is from the Insect Hashira’s socks. There may perhaps have been better methods to train total concentration breathing… but Shinobu wanted to have herself just a little bit of fun while they were still like this.
