Feeling satisfied, Kirumi had decided that it was time to end it all. The fatigue from her day’s labor weighed heavily on her, and although the unexpected diversion of hunting “pests” had provided a brief respite, what she yearned for now was rest, an escape from the day’s unanticipated exertions.
With a slow, almost ceremonial movement, Kirumi brought her toe down onto Kaede. The gradual increase in pressure was methodical, slow build up of force that relentlessly pressed down upon the tiny pianist. In a moment that seemed to stretch into eternity, the inevitable occurred – under the mounting force, Kaede was extinguished, her existence snuffed as blood pooled out from underneath Kirumi’s toes.
A sigh of relief escaped Kirumi’s lips, her job finally complete. A maid of her caliber, could not falter at something as menial as pest control, particularly in the sanctity of her own dormitory. To her, the preservation of order and cleanliness was paramount, an unbreakable tenet that guided every action.
Now, with the weariness fully enveloping her, Kirumi decided to postpone the cleanup, a task for another time. She moved towards her bed, her movements languid, still clad in her day’s attire. The bed welcomed her tired form, offering the respite she so deeply desired.
As sleep claimed her, Kirumi remained blissfully unaware of the horrifying truth of her actions. The “pests” she had so diligently eradicated were in fact her own friends and classmates. She simply dreamed about envisioning new ways to serve and protect those she had, unbeknownst to her, just erased from existence underfoot.
