“N-No… You can’t be…” The tiny woman could hardly believe the sight before her. Halara had turned to face her, revealing her husband, who sat perfectly fine in the detective’s palm. He sat cross-legged, his eyes as cold as his new demeanor as he stared down at his wife.
The man confessed that the whole situation was a scheme he concocted simply to test her faith towards him. He had always been suspicious, after all a Tiny like him wouldn’t make it very far in the world if he wasn’t always doubtful of everyone’s intentions.
The only thing he could truly trust was money, something Halara had agreed with, which is why he hired the Detective in the first place.
Halara revealed the trick: a simple doll prepared in advance, complete with correctly colored fake blood to sell the illusion. “Tinies like yourself are about as smart as any other insect,” Halara said, their expression now one of apathy, a stark contrast to the scorn and annoyance they had displayed earlier.
The tiny woman felt utterly defeated; everything had crumbled around her, and she was on the brink of losing it all. Then she heard the snap of her husband’s fingers as he continued to speak with the detective.
“Despite the ludicrous price, I believe I’ll be availing that ‘extra service’ you offered,” he said.
Halara nodded, standing up and promising to “take care” of the issue.
