Inside the wooden precipice of the spoon, Lady Gyokuyou fought a losing battle against the viscous weight of sludge. The food was a suffocating, lukewarm mire that coated her lungs and heavy silks, making every movement an exhausting labor. She looked up, only to see the The apothecary’s lips parting to reveal a dark, cavernous throat that looked like an endless, hungry abyss. There was no escape; Gyokuyou could only watch in silent horror as the world beneath her began to slide, carrying her toward the warm, inescapable heat of the Maomao’s awaiting maw.
Meanwhile, Xiaolan felt the world tremble with every slight scrunch of Maomao’s toes. She was perched precariously against the side of a massive, warm pillar. To her, the skin was an insurmountable, smooth mountain of flesh. As Maomao shifted slightly in her seat, Xiaolan felt a surge of terror as her tiny fingers were losing their hold on the slick, fine texture of the skin. She gripped the fleshy curve with all her strength, but as the weight of her own body pulled against her slipping grasp, she realized that her friend above was simply a blurred, indifferent god that didn’t even know she was there, and her fate in this nightmare was the slow, inevitable slide toward the floor below…
